Working Together Conference and Product Show
4/21/2022 (Permalink)
Ryan, Jeff, and Aimee recently attended MN Multi Housing Association (MHA)'s Working Together Conference and Product Show. This event consisted of two days of learning, training, and networking. This conference was designed to empower you and your staff to overcome obstacles, share ideas, and understand how to thrive in today's ever-changing times. Needless to say, it was great to have these three hooligans representing SERVPRO of Minnetonka! They did an awesome job sharing our company's expertise in both commercial and residential restoration services. The Minnesota Multi Housing Association (MHA) was founded in 1967 to promote the highest standards in the development, management and maintenance of rental and owner-occupied multi housing. While members include the state's largest apartment management companies, developers, common interest communities, and providers of related products and services, the majority of our members own or manage fewer than 20 units each. Governed by our Board of Directors, all members of the Minnesota Multi Housing Association commit themselves to the ethical principles and standards of our Code of Ethics.
Why are we involved?
As a member of MHA, we get to work directly with clients to allow them to have a greater understanding of our business. By working with them directly at these conferences, we can gain insight on their needs as clients, all the while explaining to them the multitude of services that we can offer them.
It's very important to us that we are first seen as a positive resource for our community. We want our clients to understand that you can always call us with questions and concerns, without knowing if you need our services or not. We are here to be a resource for you!

Is Your Office Building Prepared for a Disaster?
3/25/2022 (Permalink)
Are you an owner of an office building or similar type of commercial space? Do you have fire safety and emergency preparedness meetings? Being prepared by having a well-thought-out emergency plan not only protects your property, but the people that are on your property!
Identify Fire Extinguisher Locations
In case of a fire damage situation, you will want to ensure that you have a sufficient number of fire extinguishers readily available throughout your property. By taking the time to map out and guide the people in your building to these locations, you will minimize the panic in a dangerous situation. If your employees or guests do not know where a fire extinguisher is located, it can make an already risky situation even more dangerous.
Monitor Smoke Detectors and Fire Alarms
Smoke detector and fire alarm systems should be inspected regularly to ensure that they are functioning properly. If these systems are not running properly, you will not be alarmed in the event of a fire or smoke emergency situation. Ensuring that there is a clearly marked exit plan is essential for your building in the event that a smoke detector and fire alarm go off.
Host Safety Trainings
A vital step for fire safety preparedness is safety training for all people involved. By including a fire safety training course in your workplace, you will help the occupants know exactly what they should do if an emergency such as a gas leak, a fire, severe weather event, or flooding occurs. Having a plan in place will reduce panic and disorganization when time is of the essence.
Make Emergency Exits Obvious
Be sure to clearly identify which doors can be used in the event of an emergency situation. Illuminated exit signs can help direct occupants out of the building in case of an emergency. Tape maps of the nearest exit around the walls of the building to help expedite the evacuation process.

Commercial Fire Restoration
1/9/2022 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Minnetonka is available 24 hours a day to restore your Minnetonka property and get you back to business.
As a property owner, it is vital to take immediate action after a commercial fire has occurred. Not only is this important for reducing further damage on your property, but it is essential in getting your business back to pre-fire condition. Delaying fire damage mitigation not only allows soot and smoke damage to get worse by settling into the nooks and crannies of your property, but often times water damage also happens if water is used to extinguish the fire. If your property is not attended to quickly, you will not be able to salvage as many items and structures, resulting in more time and money spent to re-open your business.
We are Fire Damage Restoration Professionals!
Fire damage is an overwhelming process. Our highly-trained technicians are here to help you out from the moment the fire is put out until the final piece of your property is back to normal. How do we perform fire damage restoration? Check out our services below!
Board Ups
Immediately after a fire is extinguished, we can come to board up vulnerable areas of your building including windows, walls, and even the roof. By sealing these openings, we will help prevent further structural damage from weather, debris, and vandalism.
Fire Damage Assessment
Our estimators have the capabilities to inspect the building in great detail. We document the amount of damage that can be saved or repaired by keeping a detailed list of all of the building's contents. After deftly and safely completing the inspection, we can recommend the best course of action to complete the fire restoration.
Water Removal
It's weird to think that you'd have to deal with water damage during a fire event, but a commercial-grade sprinkler system can unleash up to 40 gallons of water each minute once it detects a fire. By removing water and drying areas efficiently and quickly after inspection, we can aid in preventing mold and mildew growth.
Soot and Smoke Removal
Carcinogens found in soot and smoke can lead to cancer and other health problems if not cleaned up properly. Our professionals can clean walls, floors, ceilings, and any other parts of your building's structure. With our restore versus replace mentality, we are often able to clean personal items that have damaged by soot damage and smoke damage.
Through Fire and Smoke, We're "Here to Help!"
Contact SERVPRO of Minnetonka at 952-473-4837 today if you're in need of fire damage, water damage, smoke damage, and soot removal. Our top-notch disaster recovery team is here to help Minnetonka, Groveland, and the greater Twin Cities area after disaster strikes.
Condominium Crisis: Hoarding and Abandonment
12/15/2021 (Permalink)
Using SERVPRO’s time-tested and industry-approved steps, along with our proprietary cleaning products and methods, we are "Here to Help!"
In places where you'd least expect it, you might be surprised to find instances of hoarding. This specific condominium had to deal with a tenant that not only abandoned their condo, but left the mess for our SERVPRO of Minnetonka technicians to handle.
What is Hoarding?
No, hoarding is not the same as your grandma collecting knick-knacks in an organized, intentional, and targeted fashion. Don't be freaked out if she can't get enough of collecting fancy china!
People with hoarding have persistent difficulty getting rid of or parting with possessions due to a perceived need to save them. In these instances, attempting to part with these possessions causes great distress and lead to decisions to save them.
The prevalence of hoarding seems small at 2.6%, but can cause massive issues. Hoarding can cause issues within relationships, social and work activities, and other important areas of functioning.
How does hoarding affect a home?
Although hoarding can range from very mild to severe cases, it can create cramped living situations, narrow pathways, and make areas like kitchen countertops and stoves virtually unusable.
Depending on the items that are collected (trash, magazines, mail, books, rotten food) it can cause significant stress on the integrity of a home.
- Heavy items can cause stress on the foundation of the home. Floorboards and rooms that are overstuffed with items can cause warping in walls and flooring.
- Rotten food can soil surrounding materials leaving stains, rotting natural wood, and discoloring paint on walls.
SERVPRO saves the day!
Cleaning is at the heart of the restoration work that we do, regardless of what disaster may have damaged your home. Our certified technicians have mastered multiple layers of recovery tactics to clean a damaged property such as:
- Wiping Surfaces
- Cleaning Carpets and Material

Setting a Plan for Your Business
Know the importance of protecting your people. Your employees are one of your most critical assets within your business. The following tips can help them from being injured when a fire occurs.
- Create a Fire Plan: Ensure that you're employees know what steps to take when a fire occurs. The fire step is to immediately call 911. By conducting yearly fire drills, your employees will be aware of your workplace fire safety protocol.
- Evacuation Plan: In large commercial buildings, it is essential to post a fire evacuation plans around the workplace. Remember those maps you saw in elementary school with the blueprint of the school and a star for what exit to take? That's what we're talking about. Do not include elevators within your plan as they may not be available for use during a fire. Always make a plan for the stairs!
- Fire Aid: In case of injury during a fire, your employees should be aware of the location for the first-aid kit. By keeping these near locations where possible hazards can occur such as in the kitchen or near maintenance rooms, your employees will be able to quickly respond in a disaster.

Common Sources of Water Damage in a Commercial Building
4/5/2021 (Permalink)
In an average year, we successfully restore and repair close to 1,000,000 square feet of commercial property.
Owning and running a commercial building in Minnetonka means that you've got a lot on your plate. Try to reduce those worries by following the information below.
How to Diminish Water Damage Issues
Drainage
The most highly trafficked areas in businesses are the bathrooms and kitchens. The drains from the sinks and the toilets are doing extra work meaning you should do whatever you can to keep them from flooding and the flow moving. Maintenance should perform regular checks on them and you could consider conducting a camera-scope inspection every once in awhile. To avoid a clogged toilet, buy thin toilet paper, post signage about what can go within the toilet, and provide plenty of labelled waste receptacles.
Pipes
Ensure that you are knowledgeable on the types of pipes that your commercial property has. If they are older, often made of copper, galvanized iron, or polybutylene, they are prone to damage and do not usually last long. It might be worth your while to consider replacing your pipes to help prevent future disasters. Even if they aren't older pipes, it is still important to check for corrosion or leaks more often than not. It is also pertinent to ensure that your pipes are properly insulated to avoid freezing pipes during the winter.
Fire Sprinklers
Sometimes the fire sprinklers in a commercial property can be triggered by something as simple as a warm light nearby or burnt food in the microwave. In order to prepare for an event such as a random sprinkler going off, you should have a water damage restoration company picked out like SERVPRO and register for the Emergency Ready Plan.
There's a lot to keep track of in a commercial building. Adding a regular maintenance routine and an Emergency Ready Plan with SERVPRO of Minnetonka could save you time and money. Call 952-473-4837 today.

What is water damage?
Water damage is the type of damage that occurs on a structure and to personal property due to excessive moisture and collected water. Most often water damage will occur where water can collect without notice. For example, they will occur in the lowest depths of one's property such as crawl spaces and the basement.
Here are some examples of the equipment used for water damage repair services:
- Air Movers - help dry water-damaged flooring and surfaces by forcing moisture to evaporate more quickly
- Dehumidifiers - by maintaining the humidity of the room, a dehumidifier is a catalyst for drying an area that has excessive moisture
- Air Scrubbers - filter out any particles in your indoor air which may include airborne contaminants including the smell of musk and smoke

Water Damage and Your Business Property
1/21/2021 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Minnetonka has the training, experience, and equipment to handle large commercial flooding or water damage emergencies.
There are numerous ways water can cause problems at your place of business in Minnetonka, including damaged pipes, flooding, and severe weather. Fortunately, if any of these were to occur, you can call your local restoration service at 952-473-4837. Here are several common water damage problems that SERVPRO of Minnetonka has the ability to solve.
Common Water Damage Problems
Storm
Storms can be scary, especially if you're unprepared for severe weather. High winds can remove shingles from the roof or blow drifting debris into your commercial property. If you have clogged gutters or drainage areas, storm rains can cause them to overflow which can cause a number of problems if unattended.
Broken Pipe
Often times building maintenance can be swept under the rug. A business can suffer serious water damage due to damaged pipes or pipes that burst. Leaking pipes can leave puddles of water in areas area bathrooms, employee break rooms, service sinks, and emergency eyewash stations. As soon as you recognize that there is a leak, it is important to have the problem fixed as quickly as possible.
If left unattended, leaking pipes can lead to consequential secondary damages. For example, if mold spores are exposed to moisture, mold will begin to grow. Thankfully our SERVPRO technicians are certified in commercial antimicrobial remediation.
Flood
Similarly to storms, there are a number of ways that flooding can occur. Flooding can come about from broken pipes, faulty sprinkler systems, sewer back ups, and drainage overflows. It is important to recognize that because the path of water flow is difficult to trace in a flood, flood water is classified as black water. Black water, once cleaned up, requires certain sanitation steps to be followed. Luckily, SERVPRO of Minnetonka is capable of commercial water damage restoration and biohazard cleanup.
After a harsh storm has rolled through, a pipe burst, or flooding have caused water damage to your commercial property it is important to contact our professionals for help. We're capable of making your property look "Like it never even happened." Call 952-473-4837 with your inquiries today!
Get your Ducts in a Row
1/11/2021 (Permalink)
Make it a priority to inspect the ductwork of your home or business.
Are your ducts dirty? Call SERVPRO of Minnetonka today at 952-473-4837 for a servicing.
Why it's important to have your ducts (and ducks) in a row
Ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality. As a property owner, it should be made a priority to inspect the ductwork of your home or business.
Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, according to the EPA.
Here are some benefits as to why it should become a routine to inspect the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units on a property:
- Restore peak energy efficiency
- Eliminate offensive odors
- Reduce the potential for mold growth
Even though your ducts should be routinely checked, SERVPRO of Minnetonka technicians will make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns. Not only saving you money, this will provide peace of mind on the health of your system. The frequency of cleaning your ducts will also depend on what type of business you are running. For example, an automotive shop will have a higher amount of dust buildup compared to an office building.
For more information on HVAC and air duct cleaning, call us today: 952-473-4837.

From there, our crew can start in mold remediation services. Our technicians will test and identify mold infestations as well as test the indoor air quality.

How to Protect Your Commercial Property from Freezing Pipes
12/9/2020 (Permalink)
Winter Safety 101: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Minnesotans are a different kind of breed, dealing with some of the most crucial winter weather in the U.S.
Although the tenants of commercial properties might be prepared for the furiously cold weather that is to come, commercial property managers need to ensure that their buildings are ready, too.
5 Winter Safety Tidbits to Prevent Freezing Pipes
- Insulate water pipes.
This might be one of the easiest solutions. By insulating pipes that are exposed, along with attics, basements, and crawl spaces you will have increased protection from freezing.
- Check and re-check shutoff valves.
If a pipe bursts, you will need to stop the water as quickly as you possibly can to prevent further damage. Make sure all of your emergency shutoff valves are in working order.
- Inspect your pipes!
If you do not already, be certain that your pipes do not have any leakage or noticeable fatigue that may need replacing. Even if you have the slightest suspicion, it is much cheaper to be safe rather than sorry.
- Run water at a slow drip to relieve pressure.
If you believe a pipe is in danger of bursting, running the water at a slow drip, even the smallest of trickles, will help prevent the pipe from freezing and then bursting. If it is starting to freeze, the water will flow through the frozen area and melt the ice.
- Plan.
An emergency action plan should be in place in case of flash flooding. Ensure evacuation routes are mapped out, have a backup plan for critical documents, data, and contact information, and call your SERVPRO of Minnetonka professionals to manage water damage as quickly as possible.

When Ice Dams Cause Flooding in Your Minneapolis Home
2/15/2020 (Permalink)
Ice dams are common in Minnesota. SERVPRO has the tools to dry your home. Call us today!
Seasonal Transitions: Flood Damage Solutions for Your Minneapolis Business
As the grip winter holds in Minneapolis loosens, concern turns to the risks snowmelt and spring rains can bring to business owners. Commercial buildings often feature flat roofs in the land of otherwise steeply pitched shingles, exposing retail centers, schools, and warehouses to an overhead flooding hazard as months of built-up snow and ice liquify. When roof drains malfunction because of ice dams, and the frozen ground surrounding a building is unable to absorb more liquid, water finds its way inside.
Signals that Flooding Is Imminent
If several feet around your commercial building is an ice-filled moat, flood damage in Minneapolis can follow. Another sign that water lurks are bulging ceiling tiles that hides collected meltwater seeking an outlet. Outside, a visual inspection can show water blocked from flowing down drain spouts by debris or ice dams instead of sheeting down the exterior. These fluids find ways inside the building through permeable building materials like concrete and masonry. Walls become soaked, insulation packs down, and floodwater collects at the lowest level.
Fluctuating Outdoor Temperatures Complicate Extraction and Drying
Cold, slushy water exacerbated by overnight freezes can impede the rapid water removal. SERVPRO crews can accelerate the efficiency of pumps and wanded extractors by removing ice with shovels. If possible, increasing interior temperatures can help reduce icy debris during water evacuation. After we eliminate the liquid flood water, we consider the best balance of air movement and dehumidifiers for a cold temperature drying configuration. We use an open system as the cooler outdoor air leads to condensation issues inside.
Use of Desiccant Dehumidifiers
When temperatures are below 50 degrees F in your commercial building, it is hard to increase the temperature in a vast space. SERVPRO Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)-trained managers and technicians turn to desiccant dehumidifiers. Desiccant units work far more effectively than refrigerant dehumidifiers under these conditions. Dense materials with low porosity and low permeability like hardwood floors, framing materials, and concrete are common in commercial spaces, and they also benefit from the use of desiccant-type dehumidifiers.

When pipes break, water damage can occur. Combat water damage with a call to Team SERVPRO. We are available 24/7to take your call.
Commercial Water Damage Restoration In Minneapolis Can Require Dealing With Asbestos
It is possible that someday a pipe could break in a unit above your Minneapolis gift store overnight. The leak could then spray several gallons of liquid H2O inside your gift shop and cause you to have to conduct commercial water damage restoration. Moisture coming into your place of business from the ceiling can cause several of your building materials and contents to get wet. Since water follows gravity, your floors could get affected.
Luckily our team of experts at SERVPRO has dealt with several different commercial water damage projects in Minneapolis. We know that when dealing with your company's building that keeping your business operating is vital. If it is required, we can change how we conduct the restoration operations so that your company can stay functioning as usual.
Once the flooring inside your gift shop gets wet, the floor coverings could get damaged. Floor coverings such as carpet or linoleum can also trap moisture underneath them and prevent your subfloors from drying out. In more extreme situations, building materials like your carpet can get saturated. When carpet gets wet, it can become delaminated, which happens when the carpet fibers break loose from their backing. Once any carpets inside your store get delaminated, they must be removed and replaced.
Sometimes when removing carpets, our SERVPRO technicians find other floor coverings such as more carpet or older vinyl tiles underneath the top floor covering. When dealing with older flooring materials we use caution because glues and vinyl tiles created decades ago could have asbestos inside them. As soon as we find any materials that look like they could contain asbestos, we call in a certified industrial hygienist to test the materials. If asbestos is found, then the demolition work must get completed by a professional asbestos removal contractor.
Once all of the asbestos has been removed from your building, we can then inspect your subfloor and see if it got wet. If our moisture sensors tell us that your wooden subfloors have a high moisture content, then we can set up fans and dehumidifiers to dry out your affected building materials.
If you ever notice wet items or standing water inside your gift shop when you go to open it in the morning, call SERVPRO of Minnetonka at (952) 473-4837 24 hours a day. We can return your gift store to the way it was before the water leak, "Like it never even happened."

Tips for Minneapolis Business Owners to Avoid Commercial Water Cleanup Situations
Commercial water damage hit a business in multiple ways. The company usually needs to close for repairs, lack of revenue, and the loss from items directly damaged by the water.
There are actions business owners can take to protect their Minneapolis property from commercial water damage. It is far easier to dedicate a small amount of time towards proactive measures that assist in avoiding a loss to the property and contents. SERVPRO recommends doing the following:
Regular Inspections
Here in Minnesota, snowmelt and flash floods, as well as plumbing issues, are the reasons for water loss in commercial properties. Make a list of areas to check and look over those places once a month. In this way, small leaks, damage to the roofing, or pooling water from poor drainage does not have a chance to become a problem.
Winterize
The winters in the state are brutal, and a little winterization goes a long way. Drafts can freeze pipes with poor insulation, which in turn causes the pipes to burst. Overnight and on weekends, make sure the heat in the building runs at sufficient temperatures, never lower than 50-degrees Fahrenheit, to prevent freezing pipes. If the thermostat has a battery backup, make sure to replace the batteries regularly.
Talk to Your Security Company About Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitors can send out an alert when there is an elevation in temperature or moisture. Many different monitoring agencies offer this type of service. Having an early warning system in place has the potential to save your property from damage from both fire and water.
Establish an Emergency Plan
If water damage happened on-site, what should you do? Establish a list of where the water shut-off valve location and numbers to contact, such as SERVPRO for quick cleanup of the property. The technicians can remove water, restore furnishings, and handle proactive treatments against mold and odors.
We suggest contacting our office regarding a pro-active program we offer called the ERP--Emergency READY Profile Program. A Sales and Marketing Rep SMR can schedule a visit to your company and demonstrate the advantages of this effective measure to keep your business viable. No cost to you, and it can save your business from closure.
SERVPRO of Minnetonka at (952) 473-4837 is ready to assist local businesses with commercial water cleanup of any size. They arrive quickly and restore the property to its preloss condition, "Like it never even happened."

Water damage can quickly affect your brewery of other business. Excess water can quickly cause a mold infestation scenario. Contact SERVPRO.
Prepare for Water Damage in the Minneapolis Brewing District
Recently, the number of craft breweries in Minneapolis has exploded. Vast amounts of water are used even in a small, niche brewpub, exposing the investors to the potential of a catastrophic loss if a copper leaks or a supply line bursts. Work with us to develop a preparedness plan to ensure that any water loss is a brief set back, not a brand buster.
Commercial entities like small breweries can face significant financial crises if severe water damage closes their Minneapolis site for even a short period. Although they have loyal customers, dozens of additional specialty brewers hawk their wares just up the block or in other areas of the Twin Cities. Statistics illustrate that nearly 50 percent of businesses facing a disaster without a preparedness plan do not survive.
Work with our experts at SERVPRO to develop disaster response agenda that protects your hard-fought rise in the business. Our Emergency Ready Plan and Profile (ERP) is a collaborative effort, including an in-depth evaluation of your commercial property layout and your operations.
An experienced project manager visits your brewery, ready to sketch out a blueprint of equipment, storage and inventory spaces, retail areas, and more. SERVPRO pay particular attention to the location of critical services like utility shutoffs and plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical grids. Expect recommendations aimed at limiting your loss if a pipe bursts, brewery equipment fails, or extreme weather or other outside forces imperil your business.
You personalize the ERP with our mobile app. The app walks you through questions intended to help you prioritize and share critical information with the SERVPRO crew that might answer your water damage call in the future. Identify and provide contact information for the vendors and contractors who designed and built your equipment and systems so we can reach out if needed during mitigation and remediation. Designate one or more individuals whom you authorize to act for you should you be unavailable during the emergency.
Clarify that SERVPRO is your restoration company of preference, allowing us to start work immediately. With a concise, digital plan available, our work will have you back in the brewing business swiftly.

Water Damage Solutions For Your Minneapolis Coop/Specialty Food Store
Minneapolis residents enjoy alternatives to national grocery chains, and your neighborhood coop or niche food shop is a welcome addition to the mix. Like any business, the appliances that keep your products safe, and your ambiance comfortable can malfunction. When a broken water heater or dishwater in your deli department causes an indoor flood, we can help get you back to business.
When water damages your Minneapolis commercial food preparation area, we follow or exceed the restoration industry’s best practices to get you back in business. Our managers and technicians master multiple mitigations and remediation specialties offered by the internationally-recognized Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). Have confidence that our crew can resolve any issues safely and per local food-handling codes.
Because your deli is only a portion of your operations, SERVPRO managers create a recovery plan that permits the rest of the store to open and serve your customers as usual. We erect a containment perimeter around the affected space, using heavy-duty plastic sheeting and air scrubbing technology to seal off the damage and filter and vent any airborne contaminants.
Mold growth potential is always a concern with water damage, but avoiding microbial activity is paramount in a food handling space. Our deadline for water removal and drying is 24 to 48 hours, and we hit that mark with our skilled team and cutting edge equipment. Pumps and high-efficiency water extractors rid the department of excess water. SERVPRO also uses thermal imaging and moisture detectors to find, follow, and remove any water migration behind structures.
Once the water evacuates, we use cleaning and disinfecting products registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and approved by local licensing agents for food prep surfaces. After cleaning and sanitizing, we determine drying goals and set up a drying configuration. High-speed air movers and heaters encourage the transfer of water absorbed by building materials into the air as vapor. Evaporative and desiccant dehumidifiers remove that vapor for disposal.

Remediating Commercial Flood Damage In Minneapolis Businesses
Minneapolis is a wonderful city with a great history of river travel, music, and education. The source of that river travel, the Mississippi, is also the source of flood problems and issues for area residents and business owners. Having Cedar Lake, and Lakes Calhoun and Harriet within the city limits does not help the situation either.
The resulting commercial flood damage to Minneapolis businesses can knock down walls, smash furniture, destroy inventory, and leave a commercial operation in ruins. SERVPRO response teams train extensively to remove water, dry the structure and property inside, remediate as much of the damage as possible, and replace or rebuild what is not restorable.
The team’s Applied Structural Drying Technicians (ASDs) and Water Damage Restoration Technicians (WRTs) specialize in returning even the most badly damaged facility and its inventory to a usable, saleable, condition if possible. In a furniture store, that involves not only the store itself, but the items for sale, and the carpets, walls, and other props used to create the bedrooms, living rooms, and more for display.
After specialists use pumps and extractors to draw the water from inside the building, the WRTs then move in to examine what is restorable and requires disposal. Since this is outside floodwater, it contains soil and a host of other contaminants. That means the response team leader cannot guarantee that any of the carpets are clean. Unless the owner requests putting them aside, the WRTs dispose of them as a first step before cleaning the floors and walls affected by the contaminated water.
Meanwhile, the ASDs set-up a series of fans and air movers to dry the floors and walls. For the false walls on the displays, technicians can direct the air movers across and up them if needed to dry the fabric and frames. Since water can cause drywall on the building interior walls to quickly split and crumble, SERVPRO team members have to demolish the panels and replace them if they absorbed too much floodwater. Completing the task simply depends on the number of affected panels.
The goal for SERVPRO of Minnetonka response teams is to help our Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Osseo customers reopen their businesses for their customers as quickly as we can provide a dry, safe environment for everyone. If you need us, call (952) 473-4837 today to set up a service call from one of our teams. We are here for you.

When your server room has water damage, the situation can escalate quickly. Contact our SERVPRO team for effective remediation services right away.
Commercial Water Damage in Minneapolis Minimized by Their Technology and Our Expertise
Using a network system to monitor functions is not unusual, especially in an IT company. One company took system monitoring a step further and set up a leak monitoring system as a service on their network. This was because the building they had their office in was older with old plumbing and they had a considerable investment in equipment.
Commercial water damage in a Minneapolis IT company could have been worse when a pipe burst in a conference room wall, during an unseasonal overnight cold snap. The sensors monitoring the plumbing caught it and turned off the water, but not before where the pipe burst had drenched the local area.
The owners were alerted quickly and contacted SERVPRO in the early morning hours. Our local emergency response teams are available 24-hours a day and arrived ready to get rid of the water. Using portable extractors the water on the floor was quickly picked up, and mats moved out of the area to dry.
The drywall was too damaged to restore and was cut away to also allow for airflow behind the wall around where the pipe was. The area was checked for signs of mold, as sometimes suddenly bursting pipes have been leaking for a while, none was found. The baseboard around the bottom of the wall was removed for drying of the wall cavity using our Injecti-Dry method which uses numerous hoses to push warm, dry air into spaces directly.
The large conference room table and chairs were placed on blocks for drying while the air movers and dehumidifiers were running. We do this, so as little disruption as possible is caused during the remediation process.
Our technicians take moisture readings during the drying phase to determine when the room can be classified as dry. Afterward, to ensure sanitary conditions and to inhibit mold, we thoroughly wipe down all surfaces affected by water with our professional strength antifungal and antibacterial cleaners.
We know commercial water damage can halt your business. SERVPRO of Minnetonka (952) 473-4837 is available when you need us to clean up and make your water loss incident, "Like it never even happened."

These extinguishers are made to put out fires in their entirety before they can spread. You also need fire alarms installed strategically throughout your building. The alarms are loud enough to be heard throughout the entire building so people can make their way out as fast as possible.
To effectively deodorize the structure, SERVPRO technicians need to use a variety of techniques. Some odors require direct spraying, some need fogging, and some require activated oxygen. The most common application for direct spraying is on structural components which are heavily charged or on carpets and fabrics.
Ventilation box fans generate a considerable amount of airflow and are usually used after we fog an area. We need to ensure that all vapors and residues are removed, and these fans can help us to dos o after thermal-fogging has been performed. A portable ozone machine eliminates various odors, including from fire damage. It generates an unstable gas of oxygen molecules and reacts with any odor-causing molecules to oxidize and remove them.

Your flooring choice of poured concrete seems impervious to water, but it is a porous material that benefits from rapid water extraction. The floor edges get targeted attention to prevent water from wicking up the drywall or settling in the cells of cinder block construction.

When A Minneapolis School Requires Professional Water Removal
4/26/2018 (Permalink)
At SERVPRO of Minnetonka, we have what it takes to clean and restore your school building.
SERVPRO Offers Water Restoration Services to Schools in Minneapolis
For every one of the issues that could affect one of the schools in the Minneapolis area, one of the most devastating of these is a water emergency. With minimal warning, high volumes of water could impact a widespread area of the institution, forcing your school board to put a stoppage to regularly scheduled classes until the problem can get resolved.
Often, the emergencies requiring water removal that can threaten Minneapolis schools are present from natural disasters outside of the building that makes their way in, yet this could also present itself through concerns such as plumbing ruptures, fire suppression malfunctions and boiler system degradation.
While there might not be many things that you can do to prevent these issues from happening (as they often occur with no warning or symptoms), you are not going to have to face the effects from the water on your own. Once our SERVPRO team has arrived at the school, we can assess how widespread the damage is and the appropriate course of actions it takes to restore the facility entirely.
While a lot of the construction materials used in modern schools are block and concrete, there are still multiple areas like ceilings, carpeted floors for offices, and areas like auditoriums that can get affected the worst by these traumatic events. The longer that pooled water can sit in these areas, the more damage that they can do to the layers of materials beneath the surface you can see.
Extraction of the water is only the beginning of the process, and the real heart of the restoration process rests in thoroughly drying all of the affected areas. This process provides the right opportunity to inspect for severely compromised structural components that could require replacement or reconstruction from a commercial contractor.
Locally Owned Company with National Resources
Water emergencies to a school can affect many families, employees, and students. Getting the issue resolved as quickly as possible is the top priority, and SERVPRO of Minnetonka can help you to accomplish this. Give us a call anytime you need us at (952) 473-4837.

Trust Professional Restoration Services For The Water Damage To Your Minneapolis Sports Complex
4/3/2018 (Permalink)
Running a Minneapolis sports complex is very difficult with water damage threatening specific areas of the facility.
Water Damage To Your Sports Complex
Minneapolis is the heart of many professional sports teams. With this focus on athletics being such a staple for the region, it is no wonder why there are so many sports complexes for youth and adults alike throughout the city. When a disaster threatens this facility, you might find that the full scope of the damage far exceeds what your maintenance department is able to repair or restore on their own successfully.
Running a Minneapolis sports complex is very difficult with water damage threatening specific areas of the facility. Professional restoration services can help you get these damaged areas back to their normal operating conditions more expediently, which aids you in being available for the community and individual players as needed.
Our SERVPRO professionals begin the restoration process by assessing the full scope of the damage to the facility, determining all of the areas that have gotten effected and the best approach to remedy it. This process also helps to identify where the water is coming from so that this source can get stopped and the damage to it repaired while the restoration steps are underway.
Considering that many of the sports complexes have expensive flooring in areas like basketball courts, racquetball rooms, and indoor soccer or football fields, getting the water out of these areas is a top priority. Ultimately the goal is to preserve the floor as much as possible, implementing equipment like large drying mats to penetrate below the surface and pull out lingering moisture that could warp or disfigure the flooring.
To prevent compounding conditions like mold damage to your facility, which could put your complex out of commission for much longer with the added need for remediation and material replacement, our SERVPRO team uses dehumidification equipment to pull moisture from the affected area. Air scrubbers with HEPA filters might also get used in these circumstances to limit the presence of mold spores in the region where restoration is a requirement.
Since local amateur and semi-professional sports teams count on your facility being available year-round, as well as the athletic community, do not let water damage force these teams to choose another home field. Trust our SERVPRO of Minnetonka restoration specialists to get you back in the game quickly. Give us a call today at (952) 473-4837.

Cleaning and Removing Commercial Fire Damage in Minneapolis
2/2/2018 (Permalink)
Smoke affects each material that it touches differently. If you need help with fire damage cleanup, contact SERVPRO for remediation.
Certified SERVPRO Technicians Quickly Assess the Damage and Apply Appropriate Remediation Techniques
Business fires in Minneapolis usually end quickly. Sprinklers and other fire suppression systems operate automatically and put a halt to open flames rapidly. It is the smoke and soot residues left behind that normally make up the largest percentage of costs to the business owner.
Removing commercial fire damage to Minneapolis office supply stores before it becomes permanent requires a quick response and having a plan in place before the first cleaning technician sets foot off the truck. SERVPRO maintains a 24-hour, on-call team to meet every requirement, no matter when the call comes to us.
Once we arrive, we start with a thorough inspection of the structure. Our inspector begins at, or as close as possible, to the origin point of the fire and takes note of how far smoke moved through the building.
As he traces the path of the smoke, the inspector and other team members determine what types of smoke residues are present. It is common for us to find more than one residue since type each depends on what material burned and how hot it burned.
As we identify the residue, we also determine which surfaces are affected. A leather office chair requires a different cleaning method and chemical agent than a bookshelf or a pallet of paper. With the same visual inspection, SERVPRO technicians can determine which items cannot be cleaned or restored and recommend to the business owner disposal of the items.
Now, we can start to remove the residues. Team members use a variety of dry cloths and sponges to wipe down the surfaces. We do this first to prevent soaking items that may have already absorbed much water from the sprinklers with even more moisture.
If the residues are very thick or sticky, we can use one of the cleaning agents we keep on-hand to break them up and wipe them off the surface. For furniture items, it may be necessary to use a brush to break residues away from the surface before removing them.
With the surfaces cleaned, we bag the residue particles and remove them from the business. Next, we dispose of them and any property we could clean according to state and federal regulations.
Returning your business to its original state is not a quick process, but SERVPRO of Minnetonka can walk you through every step. If you need our assistance, call us today at (952) 473-4837. We are here for you.

SERVPRO offers prompt remediation services to local farmers and ranchers.
Rely on SERVPRO to Keep Your Businesses Running after Water Damage
Many Groveland businesses have been in business for decades, with the community heavily relying on them to provide goods and services. Farm and livestock suppliers help food producers carry out their trade, and without them, the entire nation could feel their loss.
The importance of Groveland's impact becomes increasingly apparent when a business suffers commercial water damage. Without proper and prompt remediation, water can ruin the inventory, resulting in extreme hardship for local farmers and ranchers. A timely response from SERVPRO can prevent this disaster from affecting these hard-working individuals, and also those families who depend on them.
Helping many industries recover from a disaster, SERVPRO knows the importance of your daily operations, your inventory, and your employees' health. Water damage can lead to rusted railings and platforms, brittleness in plastic-covered equipment, and microbial growth. Water's capability to seep into cracks and grooves in surfaces, and to travel extensively, means your inventory faces extreme risk. We at SERVPRO can eliminate these problems before they cause profit loss, increase workers' absence rates, and other problems.
Our training is extensive, and results in certification by the IICRC includes Commercial Drying (CDS). Knowing your business relies on our skills, we maintain our equipment so that we can put it to work for you at a moment's notice. Remediating Commercial Water Damage in Groveland
10/23/2017 (Permalink)
Many people still prefer to go to the bank where they can deal with a teller. Contact SERVPRO if your business has suffered from a water emergency.
Depend on SERVPRO to Get Your Business Open in Record Time After an Emergency
Groveland is one of the most picturesque communities in Minnesota. The township has carefully planned our growth for over a century and attracts new business interests each year. Unfortunately, it cannot plan for broken water heaters or split pipes.
Customers who wait in line for a bank teller do not care about commercial water damage in their Groveland branch office. Fortunately, SERVPRO has the equipment, training, and experience to eliminate the effects of a burst pipe or other plumbing failure and reopen the doors. Often, we can do this in a single day.
We can accomplish this since businesses are often more straightforward to clean. Commercial carpets do not have a pad underneath and rest on a concrete floor. The rooms and customer service areas are larger and more accessible to dry out.
SERVPRO technicians begin by setting up dehumidifiers to remove excess moisture from the air. They also place units at places where water has soaked into walls and can be drawn out. Each machine can remove over 25 gallons per day.
To augment these devices, we also open every entrance and exit available and set up fans to bring in warmer, dry air from the outside to replace the colder, damp air trapped inside. To dry the structure, technicians also install air movers along affected walls. We direct these machines to blow heated air through walls and even ceilings to speed up drying them.
Next, technicians use extraction wands to remove water trapped in the carpets. Depending on the size of the area, we use hand-held wands, similar to water-vacs used in a garage or a device that a team member stands on top of as it rides across the room. With the larger machine, we can extract several large rooms in just a matter of hours.
Flooding does not mean shutting down a business for days or even weeks. When called in quickly enough, SERVPRO of Minnetonka can help you reopen your doors the very next day. If you need our services, call today at (952) 473-4837.

Drying Out After Commercial Flood Damage Soaks Your Groveland Hotel's Laundry Room
7/8/2017 (Permalink)
Laundry rooms are full of watery accidents waiting to happen, and those in hotels are certainly no exception.
Commercial Flood Damage
Laundry rooms are full of watery accidents waiting to happen, and those in hotels are certainly no exception. Not only does each washing machine have the potential to overflow should too much detergent be added, but there is also the possibility of joints coming loose or pipes breaking. On top of that, there is the sink that might be forgotten while being filled, causing it to overflow.
Even with the installation of drains in the floor of a Groveland hotel's laundry room, commercial flood damage can happen because that type of drain is for small spills, not accidents such as those above. Large spills and overflowing machines, as well as broken pipes and fittings, can quickly lead to flood damage at levels requiring professional repairs. Keeping your hotel at acceptable standards is difficult enough to do under normal situations. Flooding can make this impossible, but we can help resolve the situation and make it “Like it never even happened.”
SERVPRO technicians are trained in methods that make cleaning up after such an accident quick but thorough work. We also ensure that your guests and their routines are not overly and adversely affected by our equipment and activities. We always do our best in minimizing our impact on your business, no matter what kind of work we are doing or how extensive the repairs that are required.
Except for the largest of flood incidents, we can use a combination of your drains and our hand-held equipment to drain away the majority of the overflow. When most of the water has been removed from the laundry room, we can apply heaters to dry out the immediate area as well as any adjacent locations that may have been affected. Any items that were affected by the water, such as boxed laundry detergents or other goods, should be disposed of and we can help with this, as well.
We at SERVPRO of Minnetonka understand that when one aspect of your hotel's internal framework malfunctions, everything can falter. Hotels like yours help keep our local economy strong, and we rely on you as part of our local framework to remain vital. When you have an emergency like flood damage or another catastrophe, call us, at (952) 473-4837, anytime, any day. You can depend on us to make things right again.

How Retail Stores' Daily Operations Are Affected By Water Damage In Groveland
5/3/2017 (Permalink)
Each water damage situation is different and may have many hidden or complicated factors at play.
Water Damaged Retail Stores'
Most retail outlets' primary concerns when dealing with water damage relate to costs incurred and how the disaster may affect business. Each situation is different and may have many hidden or complicated factors at play, so we cannot give an accurate assessment of restoration time and impact on your daily operations until our inspectors have carefully examined the job site. However, with a touch of common sense, you should be able to place your damage in one of these categories to determine how much you need to prepare for the rocky road ahead.
Light Damage
Some retail water damage situations in Groveland may be light enough to avoid any major impact on the store's day-to-day operations entirely. If the damage is contained to a small area, such as with a sink or bathroom overflow, it may be possible to cordon off nothing more than this little section of the store. If this is the case, SERVPRO technicians do their best to not interfere elsewhere in the location to ensure that your business continues uninterrupted.
Moderate Damage
Most jobs SERVPRO is called in to help with involve a heavier situation, but one in which the store may still operate albeit at a limited capacity. In these cases, water damage is widespread or severe over an area of the store and requires the closing of any damaged regions. Your finances may hurt from this, but it is usually best to keep doors open and money flowing in if possible.
Heavy Damage
When water damage is widespread across the store or seriously impedes key functions such as power delivery, it may be necessary to close the entire location down while we work on restorations. If we ask you to close down fully, it is because the damage is severe enough to be dangerous or make continued operations impossible: we do not make this decision lightly. We understand that these conditions are unsustainable for lengthy periods of time, and focus our efforts on such cases to keep your business from closing doors permanently.
SERVPRO of Minnetonka has experience with water, fire, and mold damage in retail locations of all sizes. To minimize the impact on your business, call us 24/7 at (952) 473-4837.
How Commercial Fire Damage Can Hurt Groveland Farm Supply Inventory If Not Professionally Mitigated
4/23/2017 (Permalink)
After a fire is extinguished, warehouse fires often leave surprising amounts of damage.
Commercial Fire Damage
After a fire is extinguished, warehouse fires often leave surprising amounts of damage. This damage can take different forms simply because of the various types of inventory and goods that are warehoused.
When a fire hits a warehouse in Groveland that is used to store farm supply goods, commercial fire damage can seem minor and easily cleaned up by current employees. One problem with this is often readily apparent – many insurance adjusters rarely honor claims that do not have third party accounting. There are other concerns for cleanup after a fire, however.
Different types of fertilizer can affect smoke residues. Soot always contains corrosive substances, no matter how clean the fire was. When chemicals have been in the fire or even near it, these chemicals can affect the quality of the soot. This highly corrosive soot can eat away at any metal. In the case of farming vehicles and other related items such as trailers, these are typically painted. Soot is capable of finding its way under the paint, leading to future corrosive activity. Small items such as hand tools, clothing, boots, and other merchandise all need to be cleaned.
Products that are designed for feed and medicines often have detailing that catches soot. These items need to be cleaned of all soot before sale. Soot might resemble charcoal, but it can contain chemicals that could adversely affect animals that ingest even small amounts. Consuming even small amounts of soot can be unsafe in large part because some chemical compounds change when exposed to heat.
Employees who work inside a warehouse with unmitigated fire damage are at risk of continued inhalation of soot. Soot can be removed by manual cleaning, but a significant amount can be left behind in locations that are not easily accessible. Even though these places may be hard to reach, if soot can find a way in, as soot breaks down, those same particles are eventually released back into the air.
At SERVPRO, our employees know how to remove visible soot, but also how to remove particles that make soot a stinky, smelly, and ongoing reminder of the fire. With the use of equipment that produces a safe and naturally occurring gas, hydroxyl, or OH, that is more powerful at cleaning the air of impurities than ozone. Being safer than ozone, hydroxyl can be used in occupied buildings, around plants, and even in areas where carpets are still damp.
The sale of smoke-affected items can lead to dissatisfaction, and that can result in subsequent complaints to the makers of these products. Soot can ruin the finishes on products of any kind, and also creates an undesirable environment for employees. Having a professional and experienced company like SERVPRO perform the needed cleanup can prevent these and other problems from taking place. Protecting your employees from the risks inherent in cleaning up after a fire while obtaining excellent results and third-party verification is always the better option.
We at SERVPRO of Minnetonka know farming is a vital part of our community, and work hard to ensure that businesses affected by commercial fire damage and other disasters can continue providing goods and services locally. When your business has just such an emergency, call us at (952) 473-4837. We are always here to answer the phone and can start working on restoring your business.
Businesses Fight Mold Damage in Groveland

SERVPRO Investigates to Quickly Find the Source of the Mold
Running a pub can be rough, dealing with customers day in and day out who have had a little too much to drink. The place can get out of control, but even under the best circumstances, there are several gallons of moisture hitting the floors every day. If the serving area, the bar itself and the storage areas for the liquor do not have proper maintenance performed, mold growth can happen quickly. A single broken nozzle in the serving area or even spillage from a solid night of business can create the perfect conditions for mold growth to occur.
When you experience commercial mold damage situations in your Groveland business, give us a call. We have 24-hour emergency services available from a trusted leader in the restoration industry. Being a locally owned and operated franchise has its privileges, we have access to the personnel and equipment necessary to handle any size disaster. With several years of experience, we understand how mold acts and can effectively mediate the exposure your business faces.
Mold growth, especially in buildings, may cause health effects in certain people. A variety of practices, used correctly, mitigate mold issues in buildings. Maintaining the proper moisture levels inside of a building helps mediate mold growth and prevent possible mold damage restoration conditions. SERVPRO technicians understand that mold spores are present in our environment, both indoors and outdoors.
It is a part of our job at SERVPRO to educate you about the possible ways to spread microscopic spores throughout your business and properly limit exposure to your professional environment. Spores can float through the air and often enter through open windows or doors. If not maintained correctly, your ventilation system could contain large numbers of mold spores and spread them throughout your building.
SERVPRO experiences cases of infestation on a daily basis. Most often producing strong, musty odors in areas just out of view, before growing into colonies and spreading to other regions. The moisture level that exists has an enormous impact on how far the contamination spreads, however, small areas can live for a very long time before the right conditions are in place to expand them further.
Before mold damage remediation can begin, we need to locate the source of moisture and stop it, before establishing a proper containment and control area to prevent further contamination. Mold spores thrive on moisture and quickly spread when water is present, eliminating this exposure stops the growth.

Minnetonka Fire: Simple Steps to Help Limit Damage To Your School

Smoke & Fire Damage to a Minnetonka Building Needs Help from SERVPRO
SERVPRO Advice and Service to Mitigate Commercial Fire Damage in Minnetonka
Written by Scott Clemente, SERVPRO of Minnetonka
SERVPRO of Minnetonka recently performed restoration services on a commercial property that suffered a minor fire. The morning after it happened, I walked the fire damaged Minnetonka property facility director.
After we had arrived on-site, he pointed me in the direction of the source of the fire, a malfunctioning piece of equipment, and explained how the damage was contained to the source room. Upon closer inspection, we determined that while the fire was confined to the room where it started, the smoke damage extended into the hallway, the adjacent rooms on either side and, because of the way the HVAC system was set up, to several rooms a floor below.
This sort of scenario is not uncommon to the fire restoration work we do. Contrary to popular belief, when dealing with the aftermath of a fire, it is typically the smoke that causes the most damage and not the flames and heat. The reasons for this are pretty straightforward. The smoke from a fire gets up into the air and then follows any air flow pattern inside the building. Closed doors and vents may help contain it, but unless some-thing is air tight, the smoke will find its way.
On top of this, the smoke from a fire is toxic and, depending on the source of the fire, it can become so acidic that the soot that lands on surfaces will eventually eat through metal. Because of this, if you experience even a small fire, it is important to ensure that any clean up that is done encompasses all of the damage. Otherwise, tables, chairs, desks, walls and anything else with even a minimal amount of soot will end up permanently damaged.
The following is a list of things you can do to help limit the damage to your school or commercial building, and the number of days facilities may be unusable:
1. Place one or multiple air scrubbers in the affected area as soon as possible. An air scrubber will filter out the carbon and smoke that lingers in the air after a fire. Make sure it has both a carbon filter and a HEPA filter. The particle size of soot is approximately 2.5 microns (the dust you can see in the light coming through a window is 40 microns in size) so a normal air filter won’t do a lot of good. The scrubber will help improve the indoor air quality (IAQ) of the affected areas and help limit secondary damage from the soot.
2. Limit movement around the property. As mentioned, the soot from a fire can be severely corrosive to everything it touches. Damage to one room can quickly spread to another if it is tracked from room to room on clothing and shoes.
3. Protect the HVAC system. The residual soot from a fire and the smoke particulates that linger in the air can destroy HVAC systems. To help limit this secondary damage, put cheese cloths over the registers which will help filter the soot. You should also change filters that are part of the heating/cooling system daily for the first week after a fire.
Remember, after a fire, it is the smoke that will do most of the damage. The few simple tips outlined above can go a long way to limiting the cost of any clean up from a fire that may be needed. You can always trust the SERVPRO of Minnetonka experts to restore your smoke and fire damaged commercial property, even a local school. Just call us 24/7 at (952) 473-4837 for an immediate response.
Minnetonka Businesses Face Commercial Damage from Environmental Threat
7/26/2015 (Permalink)
A regular roof inspection and maintenance program is vital to the existence of your business in Minnetonka against environmental events.
The Many Environmental Threats to Your Business and the Commercial Damage They Can Cause
Minnetonka business owners have many responsibilities, one of the most important of which is caring for the building that houses the organization. Environmental damage to structures comes in many ways, from severe storms to constant pounding by sunlight, moisture, wind and seasonal or even daily temperature variations.
The weather to which your building is exposed and the maintenance plan you employ are particularly important to the appearance and longevity of the structure. Both of these issues can also affect the bottom line of any business due to the simple fact that commercial damage can be costly.
The Steps to Protecting Your Business
The Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety has issued a few suggestions designed to preserve any structure. The first step involves a thorough inspection of the building itself, which should be done as soon as possible after a severe storm. Additionally, the building should be inspected periodically to check for less obvious but still potentially harmful long-term environmental effects.
In addition to the major internal and external components, the building should be examined for leaks in sealants, gaskets and certain construction materials. Vents and pipes also need to be carefully checked. Listed below are the specific areas that need to be examined on a regular basis.
Roofs
A regular roof inspection and maintenance program is vital to the existence of your business, and any faults need to be repaired immediately. Roof drainage systems, including gutters and downspout inlets, are particularly important to the roof itself and need to be cleared of snow, ice, leaves or other material.
Walls
Even minor wall cracks can develop into major problems, which is why they need to be sealed right away. Wooden walls must be checked for roting and, in some cases, may need replacing. It is also important to check exterior insulating finishing systems for cracks, chips and holes.
Windows and Doors
In order to prevent them from serving as pathways for wind and water, windows and doors need to be checked for cracks. Every check should include an examination of the wooden threshold at the bottom of each door. The seals, gaskets, glazing putty and magnetic contacts for security systems also need regular examinations.
Building Penetrations
Roof and wall penetrations, including water lines and electrical conduits, need to be checked and properly sealed if necessary. A single tube of caulk will go a long way in sealing out moisture and prevent interior commercial damage.
Remember the Outside
If possible, the terrain around your building should be sloped away to prevent the accumulation of water after a heavy rain. Storm water drains and culverts also need to be checked for obstructions.
In the event of a flood or other natural disaster, consider turning to SERVPRO, which is the leader among restoration companies. Its professionals will in no time get you back in business.Fire damage or water damage never strikes at a convenient time and the hours spent cleaing up after means lose of productivity and revenue. So when an emergency situation arises in your business, give SERVPRO of Minnetonka a call - 952-473-4837 and we'll be there fast with the help you need.

Removing Mold in your Eden Prairie Home or Business
7/9/2015 (Permalink)
Removing mold in a home or business should be a top priority.
Removing Mold in your Home or Business
Overview
Removing mold in a home or business should be a top priority. Over time, Eden Prairie mold can not only cause many forms of structural damage but will also damage the health of people that live or work in the building. There are many different forms of mold, some of which are more dangerous than others. However, if mold is spotted it should be treated as if it is dangerous. There are many ways in which mold can be removed from a home. It should be both treated to remove the mold and then the conditions around the home and business should be altered in a way in which prevents mold growth in the future.
Dangers Of Mold
There are many ways in which mold can be both harmful to a person's body and dangerous to the structural integrity of a building. Eden Prairie mold essentially requires two things to grow in an area, darkness and moisture. Any place that has both of these elements for an extended period of time is a prime place for mold to grow. This is why so many lower levels on buildings have mold in them. Over time, this will affect the foundation of any building and make a home less appealing to home buyers. The problem with mold is that once it starts growing it is difficult to stop. For human health, mold in a home can result in many different respiratory illnesses that will affect both the short and long term of a person's health. This is why there is such a huge need to remove the mold as soon as possible.
How to Remove Mold
There are essentially three stages of Eden Prairie mold removal which include discovery, removal, and prevention. Mold is generally easy to spot as it stands out on walls or floors. Although there are many different types of mold most of the time in a home or business it is going to be in the form of black mold. Once the mold is found, it is important to try and remove it as soon as possible. When thinking about hiring a qualified mold restoration company think SERVPRO. Finally, it is important to change the variables to where mold cannot grow any more. Invest in getting more light in an area and be sure to fix any water leakages that may be putting water in different areas of the home or business.
Locally Owned Company with National Resources
We live and work in this community too; we might even be neighbors. As a locally owned and operated business, SERVPRO of Minnetonka is close by and ready to help with your mold-damaged property.
If a catastrophic storm or event occurs, we can call upon the resources of a national network of over 1,650 SERVPRO Franchises and special Disaster Recovery Teams strategically located throughout the country to respond to large scale disasters.

We had them back open for business a few days later.
